A good start was made on our study of ‘The Taming of the Shrew’. We explored potential explanations for the title and identified the themes of power and conflict before starting to examine the characters and plot. See below for the quotations we looked at surrounding Katherine. Remember these were quotations from other characters, which we used to imagine what Katherine might be like through the creation of a dramatic monologue.
A potential area to explore would now be thinking about other female characters in literature who inspire strong reactions. You can gather these ideas in note form or do some research and discuss your findings with me. Remember that through independent learning you will greatly improve not only your chances of success with this Controlled Assessment but also your engagement with what we are studying.
